So as not to forget our Northern friends…

As I sit here on my verandah, cicadas humming all around me, the washing on the line dancing to a soft warm breeze, I think back to my months spent in London years ago. London at this time of year, albeit cold beyond my wildest nightmares, was the most amazing adventure in Christmas cheer. The streets buzzed with the anticipation of season’s greetings, snow, just moments away teased you by never falling, the streets, so icey and cold, sung with echos of Christmas carols.

To all our friends up North, we wish you the merriest of white Christmases, and please – while you sup on warm red wine and left over turkey by a crackling fireplace, spare a little thought for us down here, sweltering in the heat and dreaming of a white Christmas.
